What do we want to sustain?

  • The clustering nature of our three years of learning
  • The networks
  • Attitudes around continuous learning
  • Sense of community
  • Sharing and pooling of expertise
  • Personal growth
  • Challenging and supportive environment
  • Celebrating the learning - conferences, kids conferences etc.

How can we build now for sustainability?

  • Develop the expertise through to all our teachers AND our students
  • Utilise the online environment and web 2.0 tools to develop a community area that is easy for all teachers to use and which provides links out to new ideas and possibilities through social bookmarking and RSS feeds.
  • Have expectations for all learners - teachers included
  • Self directed learning - take personal responsibility. Accountability. Appraisal???
  • Risk taking
  • Tools to unpack and find out about the resources - make sure during the three years that all have the skills to do this
  • Inherent in all action plans, charters, appraisal etc.
  • Attendance at conferences
  • Continue clustering for provision of professional development opportunities several times each year e.g. ToDs.
  • Continue cluster contact for lead teachers so that they can share and learn from each other
  • Forge links with new clusters int he area to provide support for them and piggyback off some of the activities that they organise
  • Projects funding (MoE)
  • Become professional learners who pull the information that is needed to be effective - rather than waiting for professional development. Self sustaining practitioners.
  • Relationship and fellowship developed into a community of learners
  • Encourage reflective practice and share e.g. in weekly staff meetings - deal with the admin stuff in other ways.
  • Qualifications structure / appraisal
